Welcome to Studio City Mom’s Word of Mouth 5! For those of you who don’t know, this is my once a month column where instead of writing about me I shine a little light on some people I think are amazingly talented and you might want to check out.

You have done so much for me and my little column that if I can draw attention to one artist even for one day… it would be worth all the hits, shares and loving comments this gal has been showered with.

1. HAVEN HOUSE SOBER LIVING:

10th-St-Sobriety-Home-1023   As their mission statement reads, “Sobriety is a life long journey and despite our best intentions it can take a constant strength and focus to maintain. With Haven House transitional living men and women are able to surround themselves with a compassionate community and develop the tools to lower these hurdles and minimize the setbacks. As a luxury sober home environment our residents are positioned for success within a safe abode.” Jeremy Stanton, founder of Haven House, is also my childhood friend and someone who’s own personal journey of recovery continues to inspire and touch me. I recently saw Jeremy when we both attended the funeral of a mutual friend who unfortunately wasn’t able to stay sober and died from this disease. But it was that same friend who helped Jeremy get Haven House off the ground.  Without him it’s quite possible men and women today would not be finding a safe bed at Haven House to rest their head and continue their recovery. If you or someone you know is in need of help please contact Jeremy and his team. You can find Haven House Sober Living on Facebook as well as their website havenhousesoberliving.com.

2. DEBORAH TUTNAUER TRANSFORMATIONAL SUCCESS COACH: deborah_tutnauer_success_coach_profile_medium If you’re searching for clarity while continuing to struggle financially and emotionally, Deborah Tutnauer is the answer to your prayers. She calls herself a question master – an architect of magical soul structure. I’ve know Deb for years and when she saw my Word of Mouth 5 she guided me to her website to check out. I was blown away. The work she does to help people who are blocked emotionally, physically, spiritually, financially and creatively is amazing. Along with guiding you to reach your optimum YOU she is also a social media wiz (so, once you discover the best you — you can share it!). She has changed the lives of so many with her coaching and does so with compassion, kindness, wisdom and humor. You can find Deborah on Facebook as well as her awesome website deborahtutnauer.com.

3. CASPER BRINDLE ART:

Casper-1  I’ve got some incredibly talented friends. Casper is one of them. Casper and I grew up together in Los Angeles. His blonde hair, sweet, devious grin and love of surfing always made Casper a blast to be around. As an adult, he has taken that love of the ocean into his art. As described on his website, Casper’s paintings “reveal themselves slowly, bathed in tones that recall the magic half-light of dawn and dusk, where form and space are veiled in shimmering glimpses and murky pools. With their high gloss surfaces and nuanced focus, the work is clearly linked to the Finish Fetish and Light and Space movements – and reflect sensibilities that grew, and continue to thrive, in the coastal atmosphere of LA’s surf and car culture.” Still an avid surfer and now a father of two, Casper’s art is showcased around Los Angeles all the time and he still has that sexy, devious, sweet smile! If you love color, art, the ocean and Los Angeles, you must check out his website at casperbrindle.com.

4. I AM:

I_Am_1  Okay, this is my first time promoting a movie for Word Of Mouth 5. I saw this documentary and was so moved by it that I simply wanted to share it in the hope you will watch it (if you haven’t already). This documentary by Tom Shadyak, known for directing such mega hits as Ace Ventura, Bruce Almighty, The Nutty Professor and Liar, Liar, is so compelling. In it Shadyac asks some of today’s most profound thinkers, two questions – What’s wrong with our world, and what can we do about it? I watched this with my boyfriend and my daughter and all three of us didn’t say a word the entire time. It is moving, inspiring, educational and mysterious. Most of all, it’s a reminder that we all have the power to affect change and we are all connected. Please if you haven’t seen it check it out on Netflix. Watch with your kids, watch alone, just watch.

5. SUSAN MANDERS ART EXPERIENCE:

Hannah-M  My daughter is an artist. From the moment she was able to stick her fingers in paint and slap them on a surface she has been drawn to art. For the last four years she has been a student of Susan Manders where she explores her creativity once a week for two hours. Susan’s studio allows kids and adults to find their own voice, their own technique, their own passion. Surrounded with books for inspiration, hot cocoa and coffee, fun and encouragement, Susan’s studio becomes YOUR studio. My daughter has grown and changed and found a deep love of art because of the environment Susan has created. No painting by numbers or right or wrong here. Susan Manders Art Experience is exactly that — an experience. A journey. An exploration. If you or your child have a desire to unleash the artist inside — please check out Susan’s website susanmandersartclasses.com or find her on Facebook.

And there it is! My Word Of Mouth 5! I hope you visit one if not all of these amazing sites. If you’re in a position to buy, produce, employ, commission, or simply become a fan you just might give these folks the gift of doing what they love for one more day! Don’t just believe in your dreams… believe in all dreamers.
